Dear Reader,

I don't really share personal matters in this newsletter.

Even today, I won't get into the nitty-gritty of things, but I'm going through a major life event right now—a difficult one.

So I've been pondering multiple questions.

How does one stay hopeful in life? How does one look forward to life even when nothing seems to be working out or when one is just tired of things?

This has led me to tap into an analogy I used to use once upon a time.

I cannot say that it is the best analogy, but it has given me hope when I've needed it the most, and my hope is that it can do the same for you.

Life is a story book, and phases are chapters.

I truly believe that our lives are like story books, and we live our lives in chapters. When we are in a certain chapter, we have only read the chapters until then.

There is no way for us to know what the chapters ahead hold. It could be bad, but it could also be good; it almost always is good. Who knows that one of the chapters that is yet to come might become the best chapter of your story? It could become the highlight of your life.

Over a year ago, I wrote about adopting the mindset of "This shall pass" when dealing with difficult times, projects, or situations.

This chapters metaphor is very similar to that one, but the difference is that while this-shall-pass focuses on the day-to-day, chapters focuses on life as a whole. A "bigger picture approach" would be a good way to put it, perhaps.

Just knowing that there are more chapters in our lives gives us hope. Hope not only to survive through adversity but also to excel and thrive. This hope we must cling to.

I'll see you next week.

Take care!

Warmly,
Suraj

A young man on his balcony, staring at the vast sky

By Suraj Chaudhary Obsession Read on my website Hey Reader, Suraj here – I recently realized that I have, for the most part, been a man full of words. I believe in my potential, I speak of it, I talk about all the incredible things I’m going to do and build and accomplish, but I don’t have anything to show for it. It is not to say that I’m not working towards those goals. I am, but I am in a “between worlds.” There is something that I used to be and something that I want to be, but there is...

A person comforting a friend

By Suraj Chaudhary Best friend Read on my website Hey Reader, Suraj here– This week, I wanted to share with you an observation about friendship. Let’s begin. Let’s imagine that one of your closest friends is going through a tough time. This tough time doesn’t necessarily have to be related to goals or career; it can be related to anything. Maybe it’s personal, related to family, or related to a struggle about the self. If that was the case, if this closest friend of yours, whom you knew and...

The Notebook

By Suraj Chaudhary The Notebook Read on my website Hey Reader, As I continue on with the LID challenge, I’ve come to realize that multi-purpose devices are a lot harder to use for a singular purpose. If I open my laptop to add one task to my to-do list, or to glance at my calendar, it’s very likely that I’ll end up either checking my email or quickly checking if any of the YouTubers I regularly watch have uploaded any newer videos or something. This realization came in my Psychology class....
